Welcome to Southwest Oklahoma, home of gypsum, windmills, and oil rigs. The gypsum means that it can be kind of hard to dig, especially if you have to dig very deep. The windmills mean that we have wind, lots of wind. The oil rigs mean there’s black gold in them thar hills. Ft. Sill has a large presence in this area of the state. It is one of the reasons that this is one of the most patriotic places where you will ever live.
We have the 3rd largest city in Oklahoma, but most of the area is rural with ranches, farms, lakes, mountains, and, that very important part of Americana, small towns.
