Serve
The point: Seize the opportunity to serve.
Scriptures: Galatians 5;13-15;6;1-5,10

Paul wrote to the Galatian Church because even though they had been saved by grace somewhere down the line they had been convinced to follow the law of circumcision. Paul set out to explain that they had freedom from the Mosaic Laws! He wanted them to get the false teachings out of their minds and follow the law of love Jesus set forth in his teachings.

He wanted them to realize  in following the Mosaic laws made them slaves to the laws. With salvation we have freedom from those laws. Jesus gave the example through his life and teaching.  He wants them to fulfill the law by one word: love. “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself!” He also admonished the believers to  bear one another’s burdens. Life is easier with encouraging words and friends helping us along the way. Paul wanted them as they had opportunity to do good to all men especially those who are of the household of faith!

We as Christians will win more souls with a kind word or deed than we will with enforcing a lot of rules to follow. We need to be examples of Christ’s love, to show we truly care about them. The servant mode is what Jesus showed in his life. He was called the Suffering Servant by some. He did suffer to gain salvation for us. In that suffering he gained our salvation and defeated the evil one! To show our appreciation we should follow his example of love for others, to find ways to minister to our brothers and sisters in Christ. We need to open our eyes to the needs and opportunities and go for it just as Jesus would.
