North American Mission Board 

Debi Sharkey is the Director of Chaplaincy Services for the Louisiana Department of Corrections in Baton Rouge, La.  Pray for the seminary students at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (LCIW). Fourteen women will be graduating in January with their bachelor’s degrees in Christian Ministry. Pray God will continue to guide and use them as they serve in ministry roles within the prison and prepare for future opportunities. Also, pray for wisdom and discernment as new students are selected. Pray God will call forth those He has chosen and equip them for faithful service. Pray for our correctional chaplains, who serve faithfully among incarcerated men and women across Louisiana.

Paul Roman is the Deputy Garrison Chaplain for the U.S. Army Garrison Daegu in Daegu, Korea.  Pray for my wife, Cathrine, as I am away serving in Korea. She is dealing with the kiddos and her mother, Sue, who is suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s disease.

Peoples of N Guinea-Bissau, SW Senegal, W Gambia “While we celebrate the birth of our risen Savior, many believers around the world must do so with a fear of persecution. Even in open countries, those who follow Him face the fear of isolation and persecution if they openly celebrate Christ. In communities where the people act as a group, non-followers of the traditional religion are isolated, mocked, and even physically harmed for not doing as the group does. Members of the Harvester People who follow Christ face this challenge. Please pray that these believing Harvester People will be strong in the face of fear and that they will be able to join other believers to celebrate our Savior.”

Marwari Speakers of Northern India  (mah-WAH-ree) – The Jodhpur district is the second most populated district in the state of Rajasthan, India, and Jodhpur city is known as the “Blue City” due to the blue color added to most housing structures there. The district is also the historic center of the Marwari speakers. Pray for the more than 3 million people of Jodhpur district who are primarily Hindu. Ask God to open the eyes of the blind (Psalm 146:8), and pray that the gospel will advance rapidly among the Marwari speakers in Jodhpur.

 

Persecuted Christians

Libya  Imprisoned Christians Receive Sentence  Eleven Christians in Libya have been sentenced to 3 to 15 years in prison for practicing their faith. The 11 were arrested in March 2023 and sentenced in April 2025. Members of the group, which includes 9 Libyan men, one woman and one Pakistani national, were sentenced on several charges including “insulting Islam” and “calling for the establishment of a banned group,” according to various reports. They also faced charges of apostasy for converting from Islam and could have been sentenced to death, but the court did not pursue that penalty. Pray that our imprisoned brothers and sister will stand firm in their faith amid the challenges of prison; that they will have opportunities to share the gospel with their fellow inmates; and that they will be released. Pray also for their families to experience God’s comfort and provision. Bhutan  Commitment to Prayer Counters Fear of Persecution  For Christians in Buddhist-dominated Bhutan, fear of the government and the reaction of neighbors to Christian witness runs deep. Anti-conversion laws can bring punishments up to life imprisonment for carrying out the activities of the Christian faith. However, many faithful brothers and sisters in Christ remain committed to him despite the risk. A front-line worker shared the example of one Christian woman dedicated to praying continuously. Seven days each week, she comes to the church to pray, returning home only to sleep. “Her trust and passion for the Lord was humbling,” the worker said. Pray for Bhutanese Christians to have strength and courage to persevere in the face of fears and pressure. Pray also for protection and encouragement for those who are facing opposition, imprisonment or family rejection.
